Does anybody know how many children are being adopted from Ethiopia every year? It’s scary to see all these couples from abroad, clueless about the country and the culture, buying those kids away. Does any one in power cares, is there any follow up on the well being of the kids?
I guess not. To make things worse even their names are completely changed so, very few of them keep in touch with their land of origin. Angelina Jolie’s adoption over 3 years ago, is a curse!

    Hi, Fre -

Yes, I do know how many Ethiopian children are adopted to US parents every year. My wife and I are adopting from Ethiopia. Exactly how many adoptive parents of Ethiopian children did you speak with in order to form the opinion that we are all “clueless about the country and the culture”? You obviously don’t know much about the adoption process if you call it “buying”. Did you know that there are an estimated 4 million orphans in Ethiopia? Guess how many were adopted to the US in 2008… drumroll… 0.04%. That’s not four percent, that’s four tenths of a percent. Again, I don’t know where you did you intense research study, but all of the adoptive parents I’ve met are interested in Ethiopian culture, keep their childrens’ given names intact, and make a concerted effort to keep Ethiopian culture ever-present in their homes.
