Ethiopia – Meles Zenawi on his daughter’s future role in Politics

In an interview with Addis Fortune newspaper, Ethiopian Prime Minsiter Meles Zenawi was asked if he would encourage his oldest daughter to have a role and place in public political life in Ethiopia? The Prime Minister was quoted as saying, “Fortunately, I do not make decisions for her. But if I were to make that decision, I would tell her to stay clear from this kind of life, if she possibly can. But in the end, if there is enough fire in her to make it possible to live such a life – because I do not think you can live it without adequate fire inside – and if she has that fire, then welcome to the club. But if she does not have that fire, this should be the last thing she should think of. And my advice to every kid in Ethiopia is “if you have the fire – go for it, if you do not – stay as far away from it as you possibly can for your own health”.

She is part of the new generation.
I think as she knows her father well, she realizes the wish of new generation which needs to see free of ethnic enviroment in all over Ethiopia, keeping Ethiopia’s soverginity, seeing true democracy and a state which is not blaming his fathers and ancestors………. So she is part of our generation not the passing one. Therefore what ever Meles wishes for his doughter her wish will not be varie with the new generation.Wish remaines as wish. While vision can be converted to reality.

I would like to thank prime minister melese for his advice. He does not pushed her to involve in politics but he gave her chance to chose or not ,that is really an intellectual thought not only that ,but also he tried to initiate all Ethiopian kids those who have fire inside them for their purpose not only for politics .In addition to him I also encourage you my beloved Ethiopian friend “don’t lose your hope,be a visionary you will succeed it”.
