MIDROC-Ethiopia to engage in Tourism Sector in Lalibela

Dessie (September 17, 2009) – MIDROC-Ethiopia Group is planning to engage in the tourism sector in Lalibela town of North Wollo Zone of Amhara State.
At a discussion held between the town administration and MIDROC representatives, MIDROC-Ethiopia projects and business administration manager, Nigussie Abera said MIDROC has established 41 companies and created jobs for thousands of citzens.
He said the company eye at engaging in tourism sector in Lalibela, one of the tourist destination of the country.
Town mayor, Mulugeta Gebremariam on his part said the state administration has allocated 130 million birr to expand infrastructure and other development facilities in the town.
He said the state had allocated 30 million birr the previous year for the same cause.
The mayor said his administration would extend all the necessary support for the company.
The rock-hewn churches of Lalibela recognized as world heritage by UNESCO in 1978.
