Gete Wami finished 6th and Dire Tune 7th in ING New York Marathon

Ethiopia’s Gete Wami finished 6th in the 39th ING Marathon in New York City running in 2:29:25 and Dire Tune of Ethiopia finished 7th 2:29:28. Paula Radcliffe of Great Britain won the race in 2:23:56 followed by Ludmila Petrova of Russia and Kara Goucher of USA.

In the Men’s marathon, five Ethiopians finished in the top 20 with Mohammed Awol finishing

Dire Tune

13th in 2:19:13. Others from Ethiopia include Kassahun Kabiso 14th, Genna Tufa 16th, Teklu Tefera Deneke 18th and Deresse Deniboba 20th. Marilson Gomes Dos Santos of Brazil won the Men’s marathon followed by Abderrahim Goumri of Morroco and Daniel Rono of Kenya.
